Chambers & Curry in Arkansas

This section of the blog will include family history on my husband David's mom's family, local and family cemeteries, and Arkansas research. Coming soon will be bios of David's maternal grandparents Judge Roy Maxwell Curry Sr and Mamie Ruth Chambers Curry. Also coming soon is a bio and 2-hour video interview with David's great uncle Austin McDonald "Mack" Chambers, the brother of Mamie Ruth. We recently did a y-DNA test for Uncle Mack which will hopefully lead to us tracing the Chambers family back through Alabama and Georgia to Virginia and maybe beyond. I will post the DNA results here as well. Also coming soon is a copy of the college research paper I wrote for my Civil War History class a few years ago about George Booker Chambers. This report also contains some information about the slave Snowden Chambers and his relationship with our family.

Here are 2 quick and dirty pedigree charts captured from my ancestry.com account for each of David's great-grandparents.

Surnames I'm currently working on include Curry, Taylor, Nichols, Brown, Chambers, Smith, Council, Machen, and Odor.

The primary counties of interest for our family include Calhoun, Cleveland, Dallas, and Hot Spring.
